Meet Odette. She entered the Sanatorium after contracting Disseminated Tuberculosis, which caused an rare case of gangrene in her legs, which in turn caused them to be amputated. She is young, alone, and misses her family greatly, but always tries to keep positive, despite all her bad luck of late. Odette especially likes her new friends Lilu, and hopes to invite them over once they are all free from this place.
Odette has been a long time coming. I came up with her concept not long after coming up with Lilu, as a way to use some broken Volks legs which have driven me insane for years. I regretted not buying her head last year when MSdoll were selling them, and when Soo told me the mold was broken and she couldn't cast any more, I scoured the marketplace for months on end for this head. Much to my happiness she is finally here and looking perfect. Now I just need to find the time and parts to make her an old wheelchair.
Oh! I really love her story and this picture~♥ If you are going to find her an old style wheelchair I can't wait to see the results! It's such a great concept!
I'm speechless for reading about the mold for Laurie, I couldn't imagine it was lost T^T I really love her mold too, lucky for us we could manage to have this adorable girl. Congrats! ^0^~♥
I love your wonderful collection of 'misfit' (I use the term loosely, seeing as there's no real way to describe their awesomeness.) dolls. I always enjoy reading their backstories, your creativity never ceases to amaze me! You were the one who inspired my own pair of conjoined twins (who are still in the making), and I can't wait to see what other awesome ideas you turn into dolls!
As for your Odette, she's nothing short of lovely and I look foreward to seeing more of her! So cute! And please post pictures of your wheelchair, I'm curious as to how you're going to put that together!
Aww thank you so much! ;3; I'll be sure to take photos of the wheelchair when I work out how I'm going to do it. I have a few theories in mind, just need to find the parts to make it. And you'll have to let me know when your conjoined twins are finished, I'd love to see them.
Aw... she looks so sad in this picture... congratulations for the new doll, she's a cutie, and I just want to care for her, it's incredible! XD I'll look forward to see how her wheelchair will come out. I've never seen it in the dolly world. >w< Your journey had a happy ending, I'm glad with that!!
Thank you! There's a few wheelchair bound dolls about, but I think they use the American Girl wheelchairs. I want mine to look like it's from the turn of last century, so it needs to be wooden. I'm just making my life hard for myself. XD
Aaah I see O.O wao, yeah, you're making your life harder XDD but for dolls you can just work with a lighter wood, and that will do the job, because they're not heavy like us... a fine finishing will hide any cheaper material you use... I hope you can make it!!
